Why We Install Bradford White Infiniti Tankless Heaters

We choose the Bradford White Infiniti series because these units eliminate the callbacks and installation headaches common with lesser brands. As gas engineers, we prioritize robust build quality, serviceability, and long-term reliability for all local high-efficiency tankless water heater upgrades.

  • 199,000 BTU Input: Delivers a massive hot water flow rate, easily handling simultaneous, multi-bathroom residential demands without dropping output temperature or sacrificing performance.
  • 0.95+ Energy Factor: Maximizes fuel-to-heat conversion to lower gas bills significantly while easily satisfying the strictest high-efficiency building standards.
  • Dual Heat Exchangers: Couples a primary copper exchanger for rapid thermal transfer with a secondary 316L stainless steel exchanger built to handle highly acidic condensate over a long lifespan.

Beating Hard Water with Scale Reduction Technology (SRT)

Hard water is the primary point of failure for standard tankless water heaters. As high-mineral water passes through narrow heat exchanger waterways, intense thermal energy causes dissolved calcium and magnesium to precipitate out of solution. This solidifies into a dense, insulating layer of lime scale. In standard units, uneven heat distribution creates localized hot spots. These areas accelerate mineral bonding, choking the water flow, forcing the burner to over-fire, and ultimately warping or cracking the exchanger walls.

Bradford White tackles this diagnostic nightmare directly with Scale Reduction Technology (SRT). Instead of allowing smooth, laminar flow that lets minerals settle, SRT uses engineered internal components like built-in turbulators to aggressively agitate the water stream. This continuous turbulence prevents stagnant boundary layers and evenly disperses thermal energy across the waterways. By wiping out the dangerous hot spots where calcium chemically bonds, SRT keeps minerals suspended in solution and moving out of the system. While no system completely eliminates the need for routine tankless descaling and maintenance, SRT dramatically extends component operational lifespans.

Eliminating the “Cold Water Sandwich”

The “cold water sandwich” is a frequent homeowner complaint stemming from intermittent fixture usage. When a hot water tap is turned off and quickly turned on again, the burner shuts down briefly. A slug of unheated water passes through the heat exchanger before the burner re-fires, trapping a freezing pocket between two hot streams.

The Infiniti series eliminates this issue through STEADISET™ Technology, which utilizes an automatic, fully modulating Active Bypass valve. Instead of waiting for the burner to cycle and ramp up, this micro-processor-controlled valve dynamically adjusts its position in real time. It monitors incoming flow and rapidly mixes precise amounts of cold and superheated water. This mechanical modulation evens out thermal spikes and dips, stabilizing outlet temperatures instantly. For homeowners tired of diagnosing domestic hot water temperature fluctuations, this mechanical precision ensures a seamless, continuous stream of hot water.

Built-In Recirculation vs. Retrofit Valve Kits

Recirculation design depends entirely on your home’s existing pipe layout. The Bradford White Infiniti GR series features an integrated, built-in recirculation pump designed specifically for properties with a dedicated return loop. If you are installing a standard Infiniti GS series unit or upgrading a property with a traditional single-pipe system, there is no loop to cycle the water. Instead of tearing open walls and inflating costs by retrofitting dedicated hot water return lines, we utilize a high-performance retrofit strategy.

By installing the Aquamotion AMK-ODR Superflow bypass valve kit directly under the fixture furthest from the water heater, we create a functional loop using your existing plumbing. This thermal bypass valve mounts beneath the sink between the hot and cold supply lines. When recirculation activates, the pump forces cooled water out of the hot line and into the cold line, returning it to the heater. Once water reaching the valve hits 95°F, the internal mechanical assembly closes automatically. This precise installation reality delivers instant hot water to every tap on the branch while completely avoiding costly structural demolition and drywall repairs.
